Cyber Crime (Case Study 5)

Case: Bribery

Location: Jakarta (Indonesia)

Problem:  Covert computer forensic investigation of an employee suspected of taking kickbacks in the awarding of multi-million dollar contracts. Given the nature of the case it was suspected that all communications had been conducted in local dialect.

Outcome: Computer forensic recovery of computer “chats” in local dialect (Bahasa Indonesia) were translated in-house and revealed a “smoking gun” of evidence. Recovered chats showed our person of interest was negotiating how much to take and how to get the money out.
